Often I’ll start to see themes in my day or week in my practice and life in general. Here’s one that came up recently: ”You can’t experience life fully if you’re always holding up a shield”

Often I’ll start to see themes in my day or week in my practice and life in general. Here’s one that came up recently: ”You can’t experience life fully if you’re always holding up a shield”
.
Do you keep a shield up regularly?
.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with having a shield up as it can get you through some intense moments in life.
.
But if you keep it up too long, you may start to miss out on being fully present.
.
Putting your shield down takes courage.
.
It’s about vulnerability.
.
Brene Brown sum this up when she says “Vulnerability is the birthplace of connection.”
.
How do you connect deeply with loved ones if you keep your shield up.
.
Putting it down helps you have more authentic discussions.
.
Then you can express who you truly are and connect at a deeper level.
.
You might think that having a shield up is a sign of strength as you barrel through life. (Yup, I’ve done that before.)
.
When I was in high school, I remember telling friends that I didn’t like to feel vulnerable.
.
It takes a lot of courage to lower your shield.
.
In doing so, you’ll allow yourself to acknowledge your own feelings and share who you really are —magnificent you, perfect with all your (perceived) flaws and gifts!
.
You are love. 💖You are divinely created. 🌟 You are loved. 💞
.
So, if you find you have a shield up, give it thanks for how it’s helped you. Then, see if bit by bit you can lower it.
.
You are meant to experience all of life’s colors.
.
If you’re grieving for a loved one, you want tears to flow and carry that emotion. After all, it is an expression of love.
.
If you’re dancing for joy, then you want to feel that throughout your whole being.
.
Be vulnerable. Be present. Be free.
.
Much love,
